From the Gov.

Fellow lions,

Start your engines! The green flag has been waved, and we are off and running!  This year will be a FANTASTIC year, and I know that with your help, we can make this already great district even better!  As I write this, I am fresh from DGE school, learning many more things to help your leaders help you.  Your district cabinet, Lion 1st VDG Mario Zeron, 2nd VDG Maranda Trahan, Cabinet Secretary Sharon Williams, Cabinet Treasurer Angela Plaisance, and I are here for you to help you in any way we can – all you have to do is ask!

This year, International President Wayne Madden’s theme is “In a World of Service”.  He is challenging us to remember that working together as a team, we can accomplish so many things.  One of my goals for the year is to bring us all back together.  By our clubs working together this year, we can continue to show the world how great it is to be a lion and help so many more people.   I am reminded of a quote by Helen Keller in a speech to the lions at the International Convention in 1925,  “Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much”.   These words still hold true today.  He has devised a simple equation to help us perform at our best:

Dedication + Preparation + Teamwork = Excellence

Don’t forget, our annual Leadership Development Seminar will be held on July 28, 2012 at the Doubletree hotel in Kenner.  We will be hosts to Lions ID Mark Hintzmann and his wife, Jayne, from Watertown, Wisconsin.  We have planned what will be a seminar like you have never seen before, with new classes being offered and having something for everyone!  You do not have to be a officer to be able to attend, it’s open to all!  If you have not yet registered, please send your info and payment to Lion Jim Caruso ASAP!  More details are contained later in this newsletter.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
